Wind

As Arne Quinze's main interests lie in the dynamic and rhythm of nature and citylife he often tries to combine those seemingly opposite elements when composing new work. Wind represents the frozen movement of wind going through a grass field, a sculpture waving like leaves in the sun. He envisions this grass field of metal pillars in his distinctive electric colour, orange, as it plays at primal emotions of curiosity and astonishment. Moreover, the colour also contrasts the dominating natural or urban elements. An extraction of the natural movement of wind becomes a new calming area. A place where you can leave the stress of an eventful life behind you and enjoy the feeling of wind blowing through nature.

Wind has an impact on every bypasser and on its architectural and urban environment as a result of its scale but people will als be drawn towards the sculpture to experience the energy of the sculpture, a flow of people discovering how art can influence them. It's a powerful means of communication, in many ways. Arne Quinze has a predilection for the old days when people were still talking to each other on public squares. His sculptures are a way to revive that spirit by bringing people back together and generating movement and social interaction. His sculptures are created to evoke emotion, spark conversation and make people stop in their tracks. They will be attracted to explore this surreal experience of the shadow and sunlight shining through the fixed pilars during the day. At night time lights installed at the bottom of the fixed pillars will create the effect of real movement.
