Arne Quinze as Guest of Honour at BRAFA '22

19-26 June at Brussels Expo - Heysel

We are delighted to share with you that Arne Quinze will be The Guest of Honour at the 67th edition of the BRAFA art fair.

The BRAFA Art Fair, created in 1956, is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious art fairs, famous for the high quality fine art, antiques, modern and contemporary art and design it offers.

Quinze will be the youngest & the first belgian Guest of Honour in the history of BRAFA. His colourful creations will undoubtedly bring a joyous atmosphere to the event, perfectly adapted for this relaunch of the fair from 19-26 June at Brussels Expo-Heysel.

During the fair, you can immerse yourself in the world of Arne Quinze. The artist will be showing sketches and paintings to large installations. His Gallery Maruani Mercier will also exhibit a solo booth at the fair showing Arne Quinze's Wildflower paintings. During the Art Talk on Sunday 19 June at 4 pm, the guest of honour will discuss his oeuvre with fellow artist Koen van den Broek and Beaux-Arts director Xavier Roland

Walking on a flower carpet

For the first time in Brafa's history, the guest of honour has also taken care of the carpet for the exhibition floor.
This colourful durable carpet should give visitors the feeling that they are walking in the artist's colourful wild flower garden;
With snapshots of his garden, the artist painted a model of several metres, then scanned these paintings onto paper and transformed them into the carpet that will be on display at the fair.

The carpet was made using recycled fishing nets and PET bottles, which is entirely in line with the vision of Arne Quinze and the Brafa board. On top of that, all catalogues for this edition were printed on 100% recycled paper.

The carpet will be auctioned after the fair with all proceeds going to the charity Care for Ukraine & social projects in Brussels.
