Sculptures exhibition travels from Valencia to Alicante

Preparing for My Secret Garden — Alicante

My Secret Garden's first presentation was in Valencia. In the City Of Arts & Sciences, a monumental museum area designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, Arne Quinze's sculptures sprouted along the Umbracle and the Hemisféric, two of the main buildings. The open air exhibition counted over 1.3 million visitors, and got extended by five months thanks to its huge success. In the meantime, the city of Alicante - also in Spain and 150 kilometers south - had invited Arne Quinze to set up the exhibition at their old port pier, which was again a fantastic backdrop for the colourful sculptures.

The installation of the sculptures happened in less than 24 hours, with a Belgian and a Spanish team working together, so the inhabitants of Alicante were extra surprised to see these flowers suddenly popping up from their beloved quay. One of the sculptures - Macronyx - will be added to the permanent collection of the City Of Arts & Sciences Museum in Valencia after their tour on the Spanish territory.

This open air exhibition can be visited for free until September 2020.
